State of the art seismic surveys and 3D modelling techniques provided in-depth knowledge of the geological and structural setup of the reservoir. Strong and diversified experience gave us an edge in identifying what to look for. We laid the foundations for optimal wells distribution and maximal reservoir performance.

Good planning is half the job, making it happen is our goal.

Our modelling and planning skills guaranteed the stability of the reservoir and allowed to maximize its productivity. By using the most efficient technologies in the treatment phase we achieved energetic savings while maintaining high safety conditions. Bordolano supplies 20 million cubic metres of gas every day. This production level typically requires about 20 wells. We did it with 9.

ASSET WELLS

Combining optimal planning with best in class technologies

Bordolano operates with 9 wells: 7 are of new construction and have been studied with tubular geometries to obtain the best performances in the injection and supply phase, also taking into account the information obtained from previous studies and reservoir models. In addition, we also drilled 1 new well dedicated to deep micro-seismic monitoring.

Total asset wells n° 10 in 2 surface well pads:

  • n° 7 new storage wells, with Large Bore Completion 7 inch Tubing and sand control (max Gas-well deliverability 2,5÷3,0 MSmc/g)
  • n° 2 existing storage wells, with Standard Completion 5 inch Tubing and sand control (max Gas-well deliverability 1,0 MSmc/g)
  • n° 1 reservoir and microseismic monitoring well

The Establishment of Bordolano is composed of:

2 Cluster Areas:

  • Cluster A: with 4 wells
  • Cluster B: with 5 wells
  • 9 Flowlines: Connecting pipes from Cluster to gas storage plant.

Gas Storage Plant (An integrated Gas Treatment System and Compression Station):

  • Withdrawal capacity flow: 20 MSmc/day using 2 Low Temperature Separator by 10 MSmc/day)
  • Injection Flow: 20 MSmc/d
  • Gas Turbines’s Mechanical Drive for injection:
  • 1 Unit General Electric PGT 25 DLE - 25 MW
  • 2 Units Solar Titan 130 - 15 MW

SAFETY SYSTEM

Planning to achieve plant safety and reliability in supply

  • Main building classified REI 120 (fire and smoke resistance) and MEDIA REI 30.
  • ESD and PSD management with an integrated control and safety system. The plant is divided in 11 zones that are individually vented in case of emergency.
  • Network of phonometers that detect gas leaks up to ½ inch.
  • Infrared and catalytic detector for gas leaks.
  • Linear heat detectors monitor all the equipment.
  • Monitoring system for the thickness of underground pipes in the plant with 64 buried clamp on guided wave sensors.
  • High-Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS), a type of Safety Instrumented System (SIS) designed to prevent over-pressurization of a plant. The HIPPS shuts off the source of high pressure before the threshold design pressure of the system can be exceeded, thus preventing the rupture of a line or vessel. HIPPS is considered as a barrier between a high-pressure and a low-pressure section of an installation.

Supplying with
environmental respect

Thanks to Dry Low Emission technologies and Low Temperature Separator models we reduce NOx and CO emission in the atmosphere. Innovative systems with minimal acoustic and visual impact have been adopted for the drilling of the new wells to protect the water basin from any type of infiltration. Clean fuel such as methane is used for the gas turbines that drive the compressors primarily in the summer months. A continuous emission monitoring system (Carbon Monoxide - CO and NOx-Nitric Oxides) operates in order to guarantee its compliance with limits provided by the regulations.

Don’t hide,
integrate

A process of mitigation and environmental restoration helped to make the plant integrate with its surroundings. Acoustic masking significantly reduces the noise produced by its operations. Bordolano's site occupies an area of 17 hectares, 8 of which are green areas: the plant is surrounded by 970 forest trees, 40,000 evergreen shrubs, 1 km of cycle paths and 4 small lakes with aquatic plants.
